This one confused, intrigued, and surprised me. The first night I tried Tonka, I sprayed it on a tester card and then my wrist. Immediately I thought “dry, powdery, vintage” . I wasn’t sure I liked the mysterious notes I couldn’t quite make sense of. But I kept sniffing it as I went through my nightly routine. The scents melded and the almost medicinal feel faded into something almost like cinnamon and almond skins. I decided to sleep on it, washed my wrist and left the card to sniff in the morning. A few hours later, I walked by the card and thought, “Woah!”. It smelled AMAZING. Everything had melded together and mellowed into a soft comforting waft of a memory. What memory would depend on the person, I think. It’s not going to be for everyone, and with how strong it is, it will have its time and place. But if you want glimpse into the the past, and fall a little bit in love with a comfort you can’t quit place then Tonka is for you.
My only note is the projection. This scent is STRONG and has serious lasting power. That’s great bang for your buck, but as someone with migraines and a sensitive nose, I hope they eventually offer this in one of the lower intensities. I’m going to buy it anyway, but that would just be…incredible.
