Summer Fridays: Kiawah Island, SC
Summer means it’s time to get away. All season, we’re sharing some of our favorite US summer travel spots. Find a destination to cure your wanderlust? Take the Summer Friday.Tucked away a few miles out of historic Charleston awaits Kiawah Island. Despite its highly-acclaimed golf courses and beaches, the remote barrier island remains one of South Carolina’s best kept secrets.
On the itinerary: Rest and relaxation on repeat. We’re thinking a few rounds of golf followed by lounging at Beachwalker Park.
To Do
A Picturesque Round of Golf
Fun fact: the American game of golf started in South Carolina. South Carolina’s very own Kiawah Island has fittingly become a premier golf destination with 7 award-winning courses. For a scenic splurge, consider the Ocean Course (pictured above). Otherwise, just half an hour off the island awaits “The Muni.” To See
Beachwalker Park
The island boasts a 10-mile coastline of pristine beaches. One of the most beautiful, and only publicly accessible areas, is Beachwalker Park. With soft sand and tidal inlets bordered by protective sand dunes, there’s no wonder this beach has been voted into the Top 10 Most Beautiful US Beaches by Forbes.
If you want to stretch your legs, you can (try to) step away from the beach area. A boardwalk winds through a trail of oaks, pines, palmettos and yucca plants and has a picnic area overlooking a marsh.
To Spray
Moss Expressive
For your days of R&R, spray Moss Expressive. The fragrance’s crisp aroma of Oakmoss, Cedarwood and Petitgrain is one nature would be proud of, and one to remind you to relax and unwind.
