Sense of Summer Series, Week 4: 3 Orchards That Give Peak Summer

As a Modern, American Perfumery, we are closing out our 'Sense of Summer' series with a final sensory escape. We hope you’ve enjoyed exploring our favorite hidden gems across the U.S.—each one chosen to awaken your five senses and capture the essence of summer.

As summer begins to wind down, we’re wrapping things up with “touch”—and what better way than a tour through our favorite fruit orchards? Juicy, scenic, and ripe for the taking…

Apricot Lane Farms–Moorpark, CA

Located in Southern California is Apricot Lane Farms, a sprawling 234-acre biodynamic, organic farm rooted in ecologically regenerative practices.

It’s also the home to the award-winning documentary, The Biggest Little Farm. Co-founded by husband-and-wife Molly and John Chester, their mission was to restore and cultivate healthy soil for growing nutrient-dense food.

Today, the farm grows 200 varieties of fruits and vegetables and cares for ethically-raised heritage livestock on-site. On the weekends, stock up on fresh produce at their farmers market or enjoy a scenic, self-guided tour through the Certified Wildlife Habitat.

Stone Barns Center–Pocantico Hills, NY

Recognized as a leader for ecological and regenerative farming practices, Stone Barns Center features over 300 crop varieties, state-of-the-art greenhouses, and grazing livestock.

Situated in Hudson Valley–just 30 miles outside NYC–Stone Barns Center is adjacent to Blue Hill–the Michelin-Star, award-winning restaurant who sets the gold standard for farm-to-table dining.

There are many activities to do here that touch on all 5 senses. From going on a scenic stroll or hike throughout the 1,500 acres of Rockefeller State Park Preserve to attending a culinary demo class, there’s something to do for everyone.

Hood River Fruit Loop–Hood River Valley, OR

Thirty-two fruit stands, wineries, breweries, cideries, and flower fields make up the scenic Hood River Valley Fruit Loop. This 35-mile self-guided route lets you explore at your own pace—picking exactly what you're craving that day.

Hand-pick fresh fruit, cut a fresh flower bouquet, and stock up on local treats like homemade jams and pies as you wind your way from stop to stop.

What to Spray
Juice Expressive

Bursting with ripe Strawberry, Rhubarb, and Raspberry Pulp and grounded in warm Amberwood, this mouthwatering scent is as juicy as the orchards themselves.
