As a Modern, American Perfumery, we are thrilled to continue our 'Sense of Summer' series. We're sharing our favorite hidden gems across the US that'll awaken your 5 senses all season long.
This week in our Sense of Summer series, we’ve got our Sights set on three architectural landmarks where art, design, and environment come together in incredible ways. Get ready, because they're a sight to be seen.
Fallingwater, Mill Run, PA
Blending modern design with natural elements, Frank Llyod Wright pioneered the philosophy of organic architecture.
Located in rural Stewart Township, Pennsylvania is Fallingwater–one of Wright's most celebrated works. Constructed between 1935-1939, this iconic home is constructed over a 30-foot waterfall and features striking cantilevered terraces and native limestone.
Experience the architectural masterpiece for yourself and see why it's been recognized as the “best all-time work of American architecture” by the American Institute of Architects and highlighted by Smithsonian Magazine as one of the "28 places to visit before you die.”
Marfa, Marfa, TX
In the Big Bend region of Texas, Marfa is a unique desert destination where land, art, and brutalist modernism come together.
Donald Judd's renowned minimalist installations, Chinati Foundation, and Prada Marfa garner spectators worldwide. The juxtaposition of stark geometry meets the endless sky, creates a surreal landscape that continues to captivate.
Bloch Building, Kansas City, MO
Steven Holl’s award-winning expansion of the historic Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, the Bloch Building, thoughtfully fuses modern architecture with natural landscape.
A series of galleries are constructed into luminous glass structures that rise from the rolling terrain like glowing lightboxes. Inside, soft natural light pours in, mirroring the contours of the land.
A true masterclass in contrast—a classical museum meets sculptural glass-and-concrete geometry, a completely unique exhibition you must see for yourself.
LongHouse Reserve, East Hampton, NY
Located in the coastal town of East Hampton, LongHouse Reserve is a 16-acre garden blending art, nature, and design.
Set among lush greenery and ornamental borders are more than 70 contemporary outdoor sculptures curated and inspired by renowned textile designer Jack Lenor Larsen.
Founded in 1991, Larsen envisioned LongHouse as a place to celebrate creativity—not just in gardening and collecting, but in the art of everyday living.
After soaking in the beauty of the grounds, take a stroll down East Hampton’s Main Street, where charming boutiques and local restaurants offer a taste of the town’s relaxed elegance.
What to Spray
With notes of sweet Roasted Almond, fresh Rose Petals, and warm Black Amber, Velvet Expressive is the perfect companion for a day spent exploring art—capturing the quiet thrill of discovery and the stillness of calm reflection. It’s also our Re-Founder and Brand Architect Vicken Arslanian’s favorite fragrance in our entire collection.
